Medical Assisting Student Spotlight Awardee: Shina Franklin

Bay Area Medical Academy’s Medical Assisting Instructor, Ms. Earby was happy to pick Shina Franklin as her Medical Assisting Student Spotlight Awardee for Fall 2018.

The award is given to a student for outstanding scholastic achievement and excellence.

So let’s find out a little more about Shina!

“Being a single mom to four babies, I’m currently trying to find my way to providing for them the best that I can. I’d never been interested in the medical field, but moving to California from Las Vegas I quickly learned that this is the field to get acquainted with,” says Shina. “I started school four months pregnant and was getting my labs done by students on externship who were so friendly and nice and they were the ones that encouraged me to come to Bay Area Medical Academy. Within the next week, I met with Tanya and Andrew who have been awesome from the start, which convinced me that the school was a good place for me to begin my new journey after not going to school for over eight years.”

After being in a class for a while, Shina discovered that she’d definitely made the right career training decision for herself. “Being at Bay Area Medical Academy has helped me realize how interested I actually am in the medical field and has helped me get over my fears of blood and needles and led me to want to further my education after graduating.”

Shina’s instructor was also a great inspiration to her. “What makes this experience even more worthy is being led by a true leader. Ms. Earby is by far the best instructor I’ve ever had.  She’s made my experience ten times better through her being an excellent leader and motivator. I’m walking proof that her hard work is more than worthy and impeccable and I’m so thankful to be in her class and for this life-changing Bay Area Medical Academy has given me.”
