Become a Medical Assistant with Three Valuable Credentials

Our comprehensive medical assisting with phlebotomy and EKG training program prepares you for a variety of clinical and administrative roles in today’s healthcare settings.

You’ll graduate with three national healthcare certifications:

  • National Certified Medical Assistant
  • National Certified EKG Technician (CET)
  • National Certified Phlebotomy Technician / California Certified Phlebotomy Technician I

Get Real-World Healthcare Experience

Learn the skills employers are looking for through hands-on training, including:

  • Patient intake and vital signs
  • Preparing patients for exams and procedures
  • Administering injections
  • Blood collection (phlebotomy)
  • Performing EKGs

Program Highlights

  • No cost for eligible HSA participants
  • 10–12 month, full-time program
  • Hybrid classroom instruction with in-person labs
  • Seven instructional modules plus a clinical externship
  • 200–240 hours of supervised clinical experience at a hospital or laboratory

Who Can Apply?

This program is designed for San Francisco Human Services Agency (HSA)-eligible participants only.

You may qualify if you:

  • Are 18 years of age or older
  • Have a high school diploma or GED
  • Receive CalFresh, CalWORKs, or CAAP through the San Francisco Human Services Agency
  • Meet Bay Area Medical Academy admissions requirements
  • Have received at least one COVID-19 vaccination or qualify for an approved exemption discussed during the admissions process

Please note: Although the program is provided at no cost to eligible participants, completion of the FAFSA is required.
